Belgian’s First Rapper, Period.
Performing: Friday, July 15 at 7PM
Too Tuff was one of the very first Belgian MCs to rap in Dutch. His 1999 hit record “Represent 2000 Antwaarpe” with his group Sint-Andries MC’s, singing the praises of his hometown, Antwerp, became a local classic that can still be heard on Belgian radio.
Prior to that, in the late eighties, Too Tuff was one of the very first Belgian rappers, period, getting inspired by classic MCs like Run DMC and LL Cool J. He now lives in St. Paul. At the ripe age of 44, we convinced him to come out of retirement for Boom Days, where he’ll be rhyming in English and Dutch. Beer-wise, he’s a Duvel type of guy.
Backing him up musically is DJ Digie, a seminal Twin Cities hip-hop figure in his own right. A member of the legendary Abstract Pack in the 90s, and now of Up Rock, with his Abstract band mate Dundee, he is a DJ, rapper, producer, photographer, youth mentor and all-round Renaissance man.
